We used to just stake llamas out on a long line, even at night. But, after the Great Elk Incident of 2009, we put the llamas on a highline at night. Tree savers are a must, and these TrailMax Inline Swivels are high-quality, much more durable than the red knot eliminators we used to use.
An excellent way to protect tree bark, these are recommended by Leave No Trace backcountry ethics. 6' long Tree Saver Straps are made from 2" wide seatbelt webbing with chrome-plated steel rings. They prevent your highline rope from cutting into and damaging tree bark. Sold as a pair. $16.50
In-line Swivel (knot eliminator)
The In-Line Swivel ensures that a lead rope will not become twisted or unraveled while tied. Easy to use: when line is loosened, the Swivel may be easily slid to the desired location. Once the line is tightened, the In-Line Swivel will not move, keeping llamas from becoming entangled with each other. Swivel action lets llamas move around without twisting the rope. Stainless steel construction will endure years of use. If you've used the red ones, these are WAY better. $13.95 (each)
