#841 Ollie Llamas Pack Saddle only
Oak latigo leather saddle, fully adjustable, linked cinches, interior flexible stiffener, foam and sheepskin padding, best shaped breast collar, and britching. This saddle has evolved, since 1979, into one of the most comfortable pack saddles for llamas. Cinches are easily adjusted for any llama by the 2" wide straps with side-pinch buckles. Cinches are of the broad, mohair type, which is cooler and more comfortable. The panniers' support rod rests in two metal brackets on either side of the saddle, locked in by Velcro tabs. The weight is distributed along either side of the llama's spine by interior, flexible stiffeners, padded underneath with close-cell foam enclosed in finest sheepskin. This construction provides clearance over the spine and easily allows full movement of the llama's shoulders and back without causing hard pressure points. The leather breast collar, also lined with fleece, is shaped to dip from the shoulder to the base of the llama's neck and is held in that ideal position by a simple attachment to a D-ring on the front cinch. The britching strap, fleece covered, may be used either as a crupper or in the britching position. Trail Tip : Many packers adjust the britching properly when saddling up for the day and then "park" the strap up on top of the llama's rump near the saddle. This keeps the llamas cooler when climbing or until steep down grades are encountered. You can then easily pull the britching down into position to keep the saddle from slipping forward.
