Llama Care

Llamas are relatively low-maintenance livestock, but they are not no-maintenance.
In addition to food, water, and shelter, they require, at minimum:

  • Grooming, either brushing or shearing or both.
  • Toenail Trimming
  • Deworming and immunization, depending on your geographical area and veterinarian's advice.
  • Mineral supplement.
Old llamas, young llamas, pregnant and nursing moms, and llamas who work hard all have special nutritional needs.  Llamas can live well into their 20s, so attention paid to nutrition and care in their early years means longer, healthier, more productive lives.
